About

The story behind
Liven World.

Liven World was founded by three entrepreneurs who had had enough of projects that deliver housing but no homes. We build the system that makes a neighborhood work. For people, not for markets.

The observation

Enough square metres.
Too few homes.

Liven World started with one observation. In the Netherlands we wait for housing that sometimes comes, sometimes does not, and when it does, rarely makes a community. We count square metres, not stories. We build blocks, not neighborhoods.

We believe a home is more than four walls. It is the neighbour who knows your name. The bike repair shop downstairs. A doctor around the corner. A child growing up among people who see them. That is not luxury, that is the basis.

That is why we build more than housing. We build Living Infrastructure: the system that turns a house into a home. Housing, well-being, mobility and community as one coherent whole, designed from day one.

What drives us

Four observations that shape
the Liven World model.

We see these four on every site we visit. They are not unique to one municipality or neighborhood, and they are not solved by building one more square metre.

01

The young person cannot begin

1.4 million people in the Netherlands want to move but cannot find a suitable home. A new generation is on a waiting list for the life that should be starting.

02

The older person sits alone

1.8 million people aged 65+ feel lonely today. A house that has grown too big, a calendar that has grown too empty.

03

The newcomer finds no place

4.7 million people in the Netherlands have a migration background. 26% of the country finds nowhere they truly belong.

04

The city is dividing

Polarisation is growing. Not from a lack of understanding, but a lack of places where people meet each other daily without a transaction.

The proof

No thesis.
A built reality.

The first four Liven World projects are rising in Almere. Randstad 21-1, 5 and 9 (332 homes, 50/50 social and mid-market rent), Randstad 21-77 (~200 homes) and Randstad 22-1, the mobility hub with 811 parking spots, unlocking ~2,000 homes in Randstad 20 and 21.

The deal is closed. Construction starts next year. With these three projects we deliver not one building, but the blueprint for every next Liven World neighborhood in the Netherlands and then Europe.

Meet the team
behind it.

Liven World was founded by three entrepreneurs who complement each other: Jeroen Janssen (design and experience), Bert-Jan van Beers (construction and development) and Marcel Versteeg (finance and partnerships).

Together they bring the three disciplines needed to make Living Infrastructure real. We work with a ring of partners that proves it in Almere.
